Is she a Child or Bride? Please, watch this!

The Nigerian girl child is a child and not a bride. When our sister country, Ghana, is trying to increase the marriageable age of the female child from 18 to 23 so she could have a good education, my dear country is legalizing under-age marriage just to satisfy their sexual appeal.

Join the campaign and say NO to underage marriage. The girl child needs an education and not ejaculation. She needs a pen and not a penis. Ask for her books and not her boobs.

God bless Nigeria.

Clap-off your bra

San Franciscan boffin Randy - yes, Randy - Sarafan has invented a bra that's shut by using electromagnets, and which releases at the sound of a clap.

Apparently Randy was inspired by bras he saw on sale in Syrian boutiques - and he's also created a step by step guide for anyone wanting to make their own.

San Francisco’s designer Randy Sarafan has created a bra that can be undone simply by clapping. The battery-powered design uses an electromagnet that controls a switch which opens the clasp of the bra when someone claps nearby.

He was inspired by the weird and wonderful hi-tech bras found in Syrian bazaars and has created a step-by-step guide on how to make your own. Sarafan says, “The first time I read about Syrian Lingerie I was quite moved. It became my mission to fast-forward lingerie technology in the West. I figured the first step in this critical mission was to replicate some of the advancements made in Syria.

The article of lingerie that resonated most with my inner sensibilities was the clap-off bra.”

Although created as a novelty item, Sarafan’s technology could be used by arthritis sufferers as well as people with physical disabilities. However for normal users, make sure not to wear it when going to the next award function!

Has anyone got the number for Dragon's Den?

Relax! Below is a step-by-step procedure for making one for you or your spouse.

How to make your own?
  • Cut the clasp off of the bra. Carefully break open the casing for the relay to expose the electromagnet. Put your relay into the centre of a prototype circuit board and make cut marks around the outline of the relay. Cut two prototype circuit boards to size.
  • One board should have a 1/4 trimmed off of each long end, such that you are a left with a long strip. The other board should be cut to a small square using the markings you made in the outline of the relay. Put together the circuit using the 28-pin socket in place of the ATMEGA168 chip.
  • Cut the ends off a USB cable to leave a section of cable roughly 6” to 8” long.
  • Cut a small bow-tie shaped section of fabric that will fold over the front of the bra - the part the clamp is attached to.
  • In the centre of this bow-tie cut a small opening and fasten a grommet.
  • Insert a bolt through the grommet from the back towards the front and fasten it with a nut.
Kudos!

This gadget surely deserves a round of applause.

The Nigerian soccer team was holed up at the Windhoek Country Club on Thursday after refusing to depart for the airport following a pay dispute with the team’s management.

The ‘Super Eagles’ were supposed to leave Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport at 11 am on Thursday morning, following their World Cup qualifying match against Namibia the previous evening, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Inside Story of Saka’s Porting

MTN Office
It was a couple of weeks ago when MTN’s masterpiece of a mobile number portability advertising campaign broke across various media channels.

Since then, newspapers and the social media have been alive with stories and speculations about how the campaign, featuring popular actor and comedian, Hafiz Oyetoro, a.k.a. Saka, was conceived and executed; and how in fact, Saka, who earned his popularity by featuring in various advertising campaigns for a rival network, ported to MTN.

Of Saka, porting and logic of history

Saka
An interesting debate has been raging on in the communication and advertising sub-sectors in the last couple of weeks. It was stirred by the sudden and dramatic switch of camps by artiste Hafeez Oyetoro, alias Saka, from Etisalat to MTN. This controversy is similar to the occasional hullabaloo that always accompanied the defecting of a notable Nigerian political figure from one political party to another. ‘Saka’ is a popular character that was specially created to market Etisalat by its ad agency, and was highly successful in that regard. But quite suddenly, on the heels of the Nigerian Communications Commission’s Mobile Number Portability campaign recently, MTN cleverly got him to “port go” and thus he deserted Etisalat in a manner that seems to have left a sour taste in the mouths of not just some people in the advertising world but also many observers.

Metal birds hit the road

• Mystery plane found in Lagos filling station, another on the highway

SOME thought it was another plane crash, others joked that it was queuing up to buy fuel, but it was an anxious moment Thursday morning when residents of Igando, a Lagos suburb, woke up to the unusual sight of a plane in a filling station.

A supposedly scrap private plane belonging to Gabriel Oduyemi World Crusade Ministry caused panic and fear Thursday morning as the rumour spread that another aircraft had crashed at Elewe-nla bus-stop in Igando, Lagos.

On hearing the news, hundreds of residents trooped out in droves to the scene with their camera phones and queued behind the high fence of Dapsey Oil filling station at Igando where the plane was packed.

When The Guardian got to the scene at around 9.30 am, it was gathered that the plane was parked by some group of people towing it down to Magbon in Badagry at around 200.am.

The private plane with registration number N972TF has an inscription of Gabriel Oduyemi World Crusade on it. Eyewitnesses said it was accompanied by some team of security agents towing it towards LASU-Ojo Road before one of the rear tyres burst.

With no smoke signs, no sign of crash-landing or blast, Gabriel Oduyemi World Crusade’s plane was parked directly at the back of a petrol tanker inside the Dapsey filling station at Elewe-nla bus stop.

One of the filling station attendants, who craved anonymity, also disclosed that the plane was allegedly removed from the Ikeja Airport to be towed down to Badagry by road when one of the tyres burst and it had to be parked at the filling station at about  2.00am.

According to him, one of the tyres of the private jet rupturted around Olorunfemi in Igando but the group was left with no option than to park it at Dapsey filling station that was the nearest place to them.

The police and some other security agents had tough time controlling the swelling crowd and the traffic the plane had generated.

Another senior officer at the filling station confirmed the story saying the private plane was being towed from the Lagos airport. He said: “The wings were removed and tied to the roof just to ensure safety since it will be going by road. The tyre burst along the line and they had to park it here through police intervention.  The plane did not crash at all and if anyone says it crashed, where are the casualties and where are the impact on this filling station?” he asked rhetorically.

Attempts to speak to the Divisional Police Officer of Igando, Mr. Olugbemiga Adeoye met with a brick wall as he declined comment on the matter, claiming he lacks the power to speak on the matter.

“It is only the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer that can talk on this matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, the owner of the filling station, Oladapo Cocker lamented the way his business was paralysed for the whole of Thursday, disclosing that he was waiting for his lawyer before pressing charges against the owners of the airplane.

“I was called at about 1 am Thursday from the Divisional Police Officer of the area that a light aircraft they were towing to Badagry had broken down at the middle of the Highway and that they would need my premises to park it. I obliged them thinking it would be for few hours before they would come and remove it”.

To quell the conflicting reports, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) had confirmed that it was an old plane being towed away to decongest the airport.

Meanwhile, another private jet, named Capital Airline with registration number 5N-BLN, was also seen cruising along Apapa and moving towards Oshodi very early in the morning Thursday. The plane was as at press time parked at Sanya bus stop, along the Apapa-Oshodi expressway unattended to and information about its destination is still very sketchy.

Fatai Rolling Dollar… Highlife music machine stops rolling

Fatai Rolling Dollar
THE exit last Wednesday morning of palm wine guitar stylist and highlife singer, Fatai Rolling Dollar marks the end of an era in the evolution of traditional highlife and Nigerian popular music. He would have been 87 years in July 2013.

While he lived, he served as the link between contemporary highlife and the roots of the music. A product of the traditional juju music era which began from the 1920s to the 60s, Rolling Dollar epitomized  palm wine guitar and highlife, the folk music of the musty creeks, shanties and back streets of West Africa which constituted  the first hybrid  of native African and  Western music. He structured and accomplished his simple melodies as well as harmonic progressions with the guitar, an instrument originally introduced to African music by Portuguese and Spanish sailors via the coastal urban centers of Africa - where he first encountered the instrument, as a sailor himself.

Rolling Dollar endeared himself to this generation of music lovers with a youthful performing energy level even in his eighties, identifying with the young generation and reminding them about early highlife and the need to fuse their music with this cultural heritage. Towards this end he released a CD with Jazzhole Records which contained Okere si number, a simple, melodic tune that became an instant hit.

A source of inspiration to the new generation, Rolling Dollar became a relevant force in the Nigerian music industry in the past fourteen years, playing live shows with his own band and identifying with hip hop artistes who have had a lot to tap from his musicianship and wealth of experience. Many of them, including my grandson Burna Boy, were looking forward to doing ‘collabos’ with him so they could fuse the culture of hip hop with that of traditional highlife. They are all shocked and disappointed that this dream will no longer materialize.

The late Oliver De Coque who came into prominence in 1980 with the hit song, Funny Funny Identity is down in highlife history as the man who introduced flamboyance to the music in terms of his dress essence and active stage presence. But Rolling Dollar went a step further to add female singers and dancers to his performance to upgrade the culture of the music and make it appeal to today’s generation. In addition, he composed a few songs whose performances became resplendent with rock and other fusions in the bid to expand the scope of the music. In his eighties, he was active. He was busy. He was lively. He was relevant! However, it was not all rosy for the octogenarian super star. For over fifteen years, he went into oblivion and was completely forgotten before he bounced back in 2000 even though his career began on a brilliant note in the 50s.

Fatai Rolling Dollar emerged from the traditional juju music era which started in the 1930s with the likes of Irewolede Denge who walked the streets of Lagos, singing and playing the guitar - an era which became consolidated with the emergence of Tunde King under whom juju music got its name. It evolved through the years – in its traditional form - in the hands of musicians such as Sunday Harbour Giant, Ambrose Campbell, Ayinde Bakare,Tunde Western Nightingale, Theopholus Iwalokun, J.O. Oyesiku, Julius Araba, Adeolu Akinsanya, I.K.Dairo. Fatai Rolling Dollar began his career with Julius Araba and His Afro Skiffle Group, a formidable quartet - before he struck out on his own to take up a performing residency at Boundary Hotel, Idioro.  So successful was his stint that he became the mentor of many young and promising musicians that included Chief Ebenezer Obey who is now an evangelist.

Fatai Rolling Dollar’s musical fortunes started to dwindle; and his popularity began to wane in the early 70s when juju music, which was hitherto a product of traditional music, transformed into an urban social music type (without distinctive melodies and lyrical lines) in the hands of new wave musicians who merely used high voltage amplification and multiple guitars as vehicles for hyping the music. He refused to join the band wagon and stuck to his lean but melodically authentic sound the way Fela Anikulapo  Kuti refused to play soul music in 1968 when Geraldo Pino almost swept the Koola Lobitos off the scene upon the advent of soul music. However, he was able to hold out till 1976 before he finally filtered into oblivion as a result of being irrelevant

He however came out  of retirement in 1979 when he was heard on an Afro rock album headlined by the late Easy Kabaka Brown and his Okpotpo, the group. The outing was accidental while his recognition was short lived:  Rolling Dollar had been invited by Easy Kabaka Brown to do a session with him in the studio. Short of materials to fill the album, Fatai composed a tune titled On bu mi on the spur of the moment, featuring the late Crosdale Juba on trumpet. This song turned out to be the one that sold the album for Polygram Records. He did not perform again until 1994 when the late Steve Rhodes told the story of highlife in concert at the Randle Memorial Hall, Lagos.

The next time Rolling Dollar came out of forced retirement again was five years after in 1999 on the bill of the first edition of the Great Highlife Party sponsored by the Goethe Institut and coordinated by this writer and Jahman Anikulapo. He played palm wine guitar with rhythm accompaniment. His notes were as clean as ever. His chords were brilliant.

The big opportunity came for him in the year 2000 when I was invited to help initiate promotional programmes for OJez Club which was then operating at Iwaya, Lagos. The reason I took the job was to promote highlife and jazz. I had in mind Fatai Rolling Dollar and Peter King who both had potentials for breaking out; and as soon as I settled down, Peter King started a monthly ‘Jazz Alive’ programme that was very popular. On the other hand, I put in place a programme called ‘Elder’s Forum’ where  Fatai Rolling Dollar  performed on monthly basis along with Alaba Pedro and Maliki Showman who are both dead. The programme also featured Tunde Osofisan with Y.S.Akinnibosun as the standing orchestra.

As if he already had a band in place, Fatai often came with his own musicians where others relied on the standing band. While others were repeating the same songs for lack of rehearsals, Rolling Dollar often came prepared with chorus girls doing group – vocal harmonies and call- and- response patterns. While his colleagues were playing copyright, Fatai was performing his own original materials. He immediately became the top of the bill!

Further enhancing the promotion of the club and the musicians was the involvement of the Committee For Relevant Art (CORA) where Toyin Akinoso and Jahman Anikulapo stepped into the spotlight. I had approached them to help give the highlife revival initiative a boost by using it  as a platform for honouring their artists. Almost all the great artists in the country including the Nobel Laureate Wole Soyinka, Femi Osofisan, Uche Okeke, Bruce Onobrakpeya and all of them were celebrated. And of course the whole project was backed up with regular previews and reviews in the Guardian. This was how the popularity of Fatai Rolling Dollar reached its apotheosis. His introduction to Kunle Tejuoso of Jazzhole put the final seal on it with the release of  Okere si number.

Fatai Rolling Dollar will be greatly missed by the numerous fans he cultivated in the last 14 years.

Ban on same-sex marriage irreversible - Mark

SENATE President, David Mark, on Thursday, said the decision of the National Assembly to ban same-sex marriage in the country is irreversible.

He said this at a dinner hosted in his honour by the Nigerian community in Prague, Czech Republic.
Mark, in statement by his media aide, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, said the bill, which had been approved by both chambers of the National Assembly, would not in anyway infringe on the human rights of Nigerians.
“The law against same-sex marriage is an approval of the wishes of the generality of Nigerians, who are desirous of living within our cultural bounds.

“The law is not designed to infringe on the human rights of Nigerians in any way. Also, wherever you go in our country today, our people are completely in support of the National Assembly, because the practice of same-sex, as you all know, is alien to us,” he said.

Senator Mark also charged Nigerians living abroad, who were passionate about coming home, to contribute their quota in the development of their fatherland, to use the opportunities contained in the transformation agenda of the Federal Government by joining the struggle to make Nigeria great.

“You don’t need to wait till the date Nigeria will be better before coming home to contribute your quota. Nigerians are hardworking people and you contribute in no small measure to the economy of your countries of residence.

“For those who desire to join us at home to improve the state of our economy and infrastructure development, you are welcomed,” he said.

Mark said his mission to Prague was to foster a relationship between the National Assembly and the Parliament of Czech Republic, through cooperation in the areas of education, culture, trade and medicine.

“We want the Czech Republic and its people to buy fully into our economy, by setting up factories, institutions and providing scholarship for training.

“We are also aware of their best practices in medicine and we are interested in that too,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Senate President has appealed to the Czech Republic to allow a Nigerian prisoner, Mr Victor Urhia, to be transferred back home to complete his prison terms.

Urhia, serving terms on drug-related offence, was said to be living on one kidney, having lost the second one in the course of his imprisonment.

Senator Mark appealed to the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mr Karel Scwarzenberg, to help prevail on the government to transfer Urhia to complete his jail term in Nigeria.

NOLLYWOOD: WHY PRESIDENT GOODLUCK APPOINTED EMEKA IKE AMBASSADOR

Emeka Ike
Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike has been appointed a Rhythm ‘N’ Play Ambassador by President Goodluck Jonathan in recognition of his selfless service to humanity.

The ceremony was held last Thursday at the National Sports Stadium, Abuja. He was decorated alongside six other super stars including: Victor Moses, the Chelsea Football Club of England’s player, and Nigeria’s top music rapper M I.

As part of its nationwide grassroots sports development campaign, National Academicals Sports Committee (NASCOM) on June 6 got the Presidency backing for its noble initiative, when Mr. President launched Rhythm N’ Play in Abuja.

According to NASCOM Chairman, Yemi Idowu, Rhythm ‘N’ Play is an exciting youth-friendly campaign aimed at enhancing mass youth participation in sporting activities and age-grade competitions.

“There was the need to reposition sports in order to facilitate the mass participation and early discovery of young sporting talents at the grassroots. At the Presidential Retreat held last year, NASCOM was identified as a key component of government’s efforts at developing sports at the grassroots and Rhythm ‘N’ Play is a brand created by NASCOM and will serve as its flagship campaign to drive and revolutionise grassroots sports in Nigeria,” he said.

He added, “Rhythm ‘N’ Play will rely heavily on the use of music, celebrities, volunteers, news media and other elements of pop culture to amplify and realise its objectives. Mr. President launched the campaign on June 6, first in Abuja, and will later on June 14, launch it in London, United Kingdom (UK) targeting the Nigerian youths in Diaspora.

As a popular Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike has been commended from different quarters for fighting for Nigerian people whose rights and voices are trampled upon. Junk Plane Found In Lagos Suburb

A junk plane belonging to flamboyant preacher and founder of Bethel Ministries, the late Gabriel Oduyemi, triggered panic across Lagos, southwest Nigeria, on Thursday when it was sighted on the ground far from the Lagos airport, leaving many people wondering if another plane had crashed.

The American registered aircraft, marked- N972TF, with inscription G O, Gabriel Oduyemi Crusades, was towed from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja area of Lagos and dumped near Dapsey petrol station in Igando area of the state.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, Engineer Nnamdi Udoh said in a statement that the aircraft belonging to the late clergyman had long been parked at a NAMA facility up till Wednesday night when it was eventually removed.

Udoh said the aircraft was released to Captain M.J. Ekeinde who will be using it for educational purposes in Badagry, Lagos. He said a cross section of the wings was removed to ease transportation to its new location.

“This morning, we were inundated with phone calls and enquiries over a crash involving a small aircraft but there is nothing like that It is a hoax because our system did not capture any missing plane,” Udoh said.

Before Udoh’s explanation, the social media were awash with millions of people making calls to friends and family members who were either at airports or on their way to board planes.

Residents of Igando for instance were scared with many of them thinking that the jet had crashed in the night at the filling station. Many residents gathered at the filling station wondering how the jet managed to get to the place.

An official at the scene even claimed that the jet was being taken to Badagary area of Lagos before one of its tyres burst.

Many residents who spoke to P.M.NEWS said when they woke up this morning and saw the plane, panic gripped them.

According to a resident who identified himself as Emmanuel John, nobody could explain how the plane got there. He said they immediately contacted the police. The security agents were  trying to bring sanity at the scene and to control the passage of vehicles on LASU road in Igando. They placed notice board on the road explaining to the public that it was not a crashed plane. So widespread was the rumour that the Nigerian Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, issued a statement.

The rumour circulating on social media Thursday morning about a plane crash in Lagos is one of the “evils of social media,” the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, said Thursday.

Social media was awash with unconfirmed reports of an aircraft crashing at Igando, a Lagos suburb; with a particular tweet saying that the “plane crashed breaking its two wings.”

Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA Spokesperson for South-West, debunked the rumour, saying that it was a scrap aeroplane being evacuated from the airport.

“It was just the scrap of an aircraft that was being evacuated from the airport. The Federal Government had issued a directive that all scrap aircraft be evacuated from all airports, as well as scrap ships from our waterways,” Mr. Farinloye said

Mr. Farinloye said that the rumour was “one of the evils of social media.”

“The evacuation is usually done at night to forestall this kind of public misinformation by mischief makers. We were there at 11.20 p.m. yesterday,” he added.

Gabriel Oduyemi was a Nigerian pastor and the founder and general overseer of Bethel Ministries Inc.  He was described as a flamboyant speaker who believed in financial prosperity for Christians.

One of the peculiar events during his services was when he would instruct the people in attendance to wave white handkerchiefs above their heads, in order to realize their miracles of becoming millionaires.

Omotola husband’s scrap plane causes panic in Lagos

A scrap plane formerly owned by the late Apostle Gabriel Oduyemi of Bethel Ministries, Ajah, Lagos, caused panic in the city on Thursday as rumour spread that another aircraft had crashed in Lagos.

It was learnt that the plane, which was recently released to Capt Matthew Ekeinde, husband of Nollywood star, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, was being dragged to Badagry area of the state before its tyre burst. The incident forced the new owner to dump the plane in a nearby filling station.

Hundreds of residents trooped out with their smart phones and camera, and queued behind the gate of Dapsey Oil filling station at Igando where the plane was parked.

A senior employee of the filling station said the plane, with registration number N972TF, was being towed from Muritala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja to Badagry when one of the tyres burst.

He said, “The plane was brought here around 2am after one of its tyres burst. It was being towed by a red vehicle, but after it got to Igando, they discovered it would be difficult to get it to its destination with burst tyre, which was why they brought it here.”

The Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the police provided escort for the plane.

He said, “About 12.45am, the command got a directive to escort the jet from MMIA Ikeja to Badagry by road.

“The operation was led by one Capt. Matthew Ekeinde, but in the process of the journey, one of the jet’s tyres burst at College Bus Stop and the jet could not move.

“It was parked at Dapsey Filling Station along Igando for repairs. We have provided security for the plane until it is moved to Badagry.”

PUNCH Metro observed that men of The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps were on the ground to “ensure the safety of people” living in the area.

The Igando Divisional Police Officer, Adeoye Olugbemiga, came with his team around 12pm to control on-lookers.

In a short time, some of the residents turned the scene into an amusement park and began to pose and take shots near the plane.

One of our correspondents observed that the plane’s two wings had been chopped off and the cockpit was stuffed with nylons.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, Nnamdi Udoh, in a statement, said the aircraft had long been within the agency’s facility till Wednesday night when it was removed.

Udoh said, “The aircraft that was sighted by the residents was actually a junk one belonging to the late Apostle Gabriel Oduyemi of Bethel Ministries.

“The aircraft was actually released to Capt Ekeinde who will be using it for educational purposes in Badagry, Lagos.”

Ekeinde confirmed on the telephone that the scrap plane belonged to him.
He said, “The aircraft will be situated in a multipurpose and entertainment centre which wlll be open very soon.

“When opened, the centre will be the first of its kind in West Africa.”

Pandemonium as Towed Aircraft Incites Fear of Crash in Lagos

Barely 10 days after the one year commemoration of the death of 153 passengers on board the ill-fated Dana Aircraft, which crashed at the Iju-Ishaga area of Lagos, pandemonium erupted Thursday, as rumours of another crash made the rounds in Lagos.

THISDAY checks revealed that the rumour of the plane crash began when the charred parts of an aircraft being towed by a truck stopped in front of Dapsey filling station, along the LASU-Igando road.

It was gathered that the American registered aircraft with registration number N972TF, actually belonged to the late Apostle Gabriel Oduyemi of Bethel Ministries and had long been parked at one of the Airport facilities till Wednesday night when it was eventually removed.

But when contacted, the spokesperson of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), South-west, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, dispelled the rumours, stressing that no such incident happened.

According to him, there was no crash rather the aircraft that elicited panic was being towed away from the airport according to a recent directive emanating from the presidency.

He said: “It was just the scrap of an aircraft being evacuated out of the airport, following the directive emanating from the office of the presidency to remove scraps and moribund aircrafts from the airport.

“We were there before the aircraft was towed. We were there to monitor proceedings and I can categorically tell you that our presence was not because of any plane crash rather to monitor.”

While adding that the exercise is an ongoing process that would rid the airport of moribund aircraft, he said it went unnoticed before because the evacuators had deliberately chosen to do it at night to avoid such public attention as well as to incite panic.

While urging Lagosians not to panic at such sights, he lamented that the uproar caused by the sight of the aircraft was one of the inherent dangers of social media where citizen journalism is rife.

Also speaking, the Managing Director, National Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr. Nnamdi Udoh, described the purported plane crash as a hoax that should be disregarded.

In a statement made available to THISDAY, the agency said: “The attention of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has been drawn to a purported plane crash yesterday at Igando, a suburb in Lagos State.

“We were inundated with phone calls and enquiries over a crash involving a small aircraft but there is nothing like that. It is a hoax because our system did not capture any missing plane. The aircraft was actually released to Captain M.J. Ekehinde, who will be using it for educational purposes in Badagry, Lagos. A cross-section of the wings was removed to ease transportation to its new location.

“While we appreciate the concern of the public on sighting the plane at an unusual site, we urge that people should always contact police and local government officials for proper information before spreading the news on incident involving any aircraft.”

Death of 2 Kano-born heads of state my biggest regret - Emir of Kano

Alhaji (Dr) Ado Bayero
Alhaji (Dr) Ado Bayero
THE 13th Emir of Kano, Alhaji (Dr) Ado Bayero, has said  in his 50 years on the throne, nothing has ever rattled or frightened him, “as I have absolute faith in God.”

The traditional ruler, who is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of his reign, however, said he regretted that two serving heads of state from the state, General Murtala Muhammed and General Sani Abacha, died during his reign.

Speaking with select journalists in his palace on Thursday, Alhaji Bayero said for 50 years on the throne, nothing had perturbed him, adding that perseverance, endurance and patience had been his strength.

He said a check through the history of all emirates founded by the late Islamic reformer and scholar, Shiekh Usman Dan Fodio, revealed that all the emirs devoted their lives to Allah, encouraged Islamic education, assisted the poor and other underprivileged in the society, adding that no evil planned against them had ever succeeded.

Bayero, who was Nigerian Ambassador to Senegal before his enthronement as the emir at the age of 33, disclosed that his schedules included praying for peace, meeting people, solving problems, advising political leaders and eradicating vices through the activities of Ulamas working with the councils.

“When I was younger and active, I used to attend to people day and night, but now at 83, I am old and tired. I rest most of the time and see people on Fridays and Sundays. Once I am aware that you are around, even if you do not see me, you will receive a message from me,” he said.

Commenting on the Maitatsine  riots and recent attempt to kill him by unknown gunmen, the emir, who was the 11th child of his father, said he thanked God that he was alive to celebrate his 50th anniversary on the throne, adding that neither the Maitatsine crisis nor any other crisis had ruffled him.

“Nothing has ever hurt me in my 50 years on the throne,” he said, adding that “whatever befall any human beings should be counted as the act of God.”

Recalling when he became the emir, he said “when I was crowned as the Emir of Kano in June 1963, I received the honour with mixed feelings. I was happy, and then I was not happy.

“In any case, I took it as a call to serve my people. I was not happy because then, I had elder brothers, elderly uncles, who could have done it better, but the mantle of leadership fell on me and I had no choice but to accept the responsibility.”

He stressed the need to assign constitutional roles to traditional rulers, adding that “if the government decides to assign constitutional roles to traditional rulers, it is acceptable to me and if it decides otherwise, it is also acceptable.”

He called on the people of the state to pray for the development of Kano and Nigeria, adding that peace and unity remained the cornerstone of every nation determined to develop.

He also called on Nigerians to have faith in God, noting that for everything, God has a purpose.

Meanwhile, following the preparation for the celebration of the Golden Jubilee anniversary of the coronation, the palace is wearing a new look, preparatory to the event today, while security had been beefed up in Kano, especially around the palace.

Tinubu lied in London - Okupe

Senator Bola Tinubu
Senator Bola Tinubu
THE Presidency on Thursday accused former Lagos State governor and leader of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Senator Bola Tinubu, of lying over his remarks at an event in London where he presented President Goodluck Jonathan as incapable of tackling the challenges confronting the country.

Addressing a news conference in Abuja on Thursday, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, noted that at a time Tinubu’s new political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was battling unsuccessfully to produce a new set of leadership, Tinubu was in London telling lies about the Jonathan’s administration.

Saying that government has noted “several inconsistencies, political razzmatazz and utter falsehoods contained in the address,” Okupe said Tinubu’s remarks were not only wide off the mark but betrayed the hypocrisy “for which the national leader of ACN and his party have become very well known.”

He said that the ACN leader’s claim that “everyone claims to be democratic but not everyone is faithful to his or her word,”  was “a clear case of self-indictment,”  arguing that “any keen and discerning observer of Nigeria’s democracy will attest that Senator Tinubu and his ACN are completely lacking in democratic temper.”

Okupe remarked that the ACN as a party was not only undemocratic but blatantly autocratic and makes no pretenses about it, saying “it is clear that ACN leadership’s understanding of democracy is tainted and skewed by his undemocratic mindset, which has seen him exert authoritarian control over the party. With such disposition, it is easy to understand his warped and defective reading of the democratic situation in Nigeria.”

According to the Presidential aide, that paper that Nigeria under the leadership of Jonathan was a dysfunctional democracy was not only the height of ignorance but equally of unbridled mischief.

He added: “Tinubu must be talking of an imaginary Nigeria not the Nigeria we all know and live in. His submission on our democracy is nothing but wild conjecture, completely unrelated to reality.

“For the records, the Nigerian democracy is robust, vibrant and unattenuated. Unlike the ACN chieftain would have us believe, Nigerian democracy does not stand in any dark.

Obafaye, ‘My Oga at the Top’ resumes as NSCDC Oyo State boss

Mr Shem Obafaye
Mr Shem Obafaye
The former Lagos State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, Mr. Shem Obafaye, who postulated the ”My Oga at the top” mantra has finally resumed duty as Oyo State Commandant of the security agency.

Obafaye was replaced by Mr. Adesuyi Clement from Oyo State Command after his interview on Channels Television live programme ‘Sunrise’ about two months ago. Since then, no specific assignment was given to him until last week when he was asked to replace Adesuyi officially.

In a telephone conversation with Vanguard, Obafaye promised to discharge his duties with every sense of responsibility. ”I am determined to serve in Oyo State and I know God will help me,” he said.

Obafaye’s redeployment may not be unconnected with the interview he granted to Channels Television.

His ordeal started when he was asked during the interview the NSCDC website and he said:

“Hmmm, the website is, excuse me, my Oga at the top knows the website”. He again, cleared his throat and said: “My Oga at the top is working on the website and I don’t have them”.

When the presenters insisted that he give a functioning website address of the para-military outfit, he dropped the bombshell: “ww.nscdc that’s all”.

Immediately, the interview went viral and has become so popular to the extent that t-shirts with “my oga at the top” insignia were produced and sold like hot cake across the country. DJs and musicians also did what they called ‘a remix’ of the phrase.

Meanwhile, this latest development has put to an end, speculations that Mr Obafaye had been sacked on the orders of the Minister of Interior, who supervises the NSCDC. But authorities of NSCDC had continuously denied taking any disciplinary action against the embattled commandant.

NSCDC trains 462 officers in counter-terrorism

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Tuesday said it had trained 462 officers and men in counter-terrorism and insurgency check across the country.

Commandant of the NSCDC in Niger, State, Mr. Ikemefuna Izuka, who said this in an interview with The PUNCH correspondent in Minna, said the training would help in tacking internal security threats.

“A total of 462 officers and men of the NSCDC were trained nationwide in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency to help other security agencies in the country tackle internal security challenges.”

According to him, the officers and men completed the three-week training, which was conducted by the Nigeria Army Training Centre, Kontagora, last Friday.

Izuka said 392 of the trainees were males while 65 were females. He said it was the sixth batch of such training since the inception of the corps.

He said 17 of the officers and men came from his command, out of which were 15 males and two females.

The commandant said the training had made the officers and men to be better civil defenders that could take up their statutory duties, including counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency anywhere.

“They are now well equipped to carry out their duties in a well dignified manner, including counter- terrorism andcounter-insurgency anywhere,” he added.

Last Year Flood Victims Receive Relief Items

World Health Organisation (WHO) on Tuesday donated relief materials to the 2012 flood victims in the nine affected local government areas of Kogi.

The acting State Coordinator of WHO, Keji Adejo, donated the materials through the Commissioner for Health, Dr Idris Omede, in Lokoja.

The items are Diarrhoea disease kit, 12 boxes of various modules, anti malaria basic kit, two boxes, latex examination gloves, 100 cartons of fluid –ringer’s lactate, 120 cartons and Kojak safety boxes.

He said the items would also guard against the prediction of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) that greater amount of rainfall would be recorded in 2013.

Adejo said the donation was timely in supporting the ongoing preparation by the state for pre-positioning of drugs in the flood prone local government areas.

He said community dialogue for awareness creation within the flood prone areas was ongoing to ensure that adequate preparation was made by the indigenes to reduce loss of life and property.

Adejo said the capacity building for health workers in disaster prone areas was also ongoing to increase their capability to respond to emergencies.

The commissioner thanked the organisation for the support. He assured that the materials would get to the people that desired it.

He said the ministry and National Orientation Agency were already working round the clock to sensitise the public, adding that workers were being trained on first aid and guidelines.

Interim Namibia coach eyes upset of champions Nigeria

Interim Namibia coach Ricardo Mannetti is confident that his side can upset the formbook in Group F and beat African champions Nigeria on Wednesday.
The Brave Warriors have home advantage for a match they must win to stay in contention for qualifying for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
"I just want the entire nation to focus on the game," said Mannetti. "It is a winnable game and we are at home."
Mannetti took charge on Monday after Roger Palmgren's sudden resignation.
The Swede quit after citing death threats against his family.
Mannetti and his fellow assistant Ronnie Kanalelo have been put in charge for the penultimate round of matches in the group.
Nigeria, who won their third African crown at this year's Africa Cup of Nations, currently top Group F with eight points, two more than Malawi.
Namibia have amassed four points so far, with Kenya - who take on the Flames in Malawi on Wednesday - having managed just two from their four games.
This round of Group F ties has been brought forward to enable Nigeria to travel to Brazil for the Confederations Cup - with the Super Eagles playing Tahiti in their opening game on 17 June.
Nigeria qualify for the competition as African champions but struggled in their last World Cup qualifier, winning 1-0 in Kenya thanks to a goal in the last ten minutes.
"Nigeria struggled away to Kenya last week, only scoring late on," said Mannetti. "As we all know, every now and then you get a surprise result - that's the beauty of football.
"Maybe on Wednesday, it will be one of those nights."
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi is unsure how the resignation of Palmgren, who only took charge in early May, will affect the home players.
"I am not in a position to know how it is going to affect the players, but I would imagine that the coach leaving - at a point where the players have a crucial game - means they will be down a little bit," he said.
"But the good thing for the players is that he hasn't been with them for very long, just a month, so it might not be too heavy for them - they can deal with it."
Should Namibia stun Nigeria, Malawi could go top of the group if they beat Kenya in the day's early game in Blantyre.
The Flames, who travel to Nigeria for the final round of games in September, have made three changes to their squad for the match.
Coach Edington Ng'onamo has brought in striker Gabadinhio Mhango, who scored the winner against Namibia in March.
The 19-year-old missed last week's goalless draw with Namibia as he was sitting for secondary school examinations.
Angola-based defender James Sangala and John Banda of local club Blue Eagles are the other players to come in.
"I have asked my boys to sweat blood because if they don't do that, then we are out of the competition," Ng'onamo told BBC Sport.
"So it's a must-win game and the boys will go flat out so that we can win by a wide margin. To beat Kenya, we have to play attacking football."
Whichever team emerges top of Group F on the final weekend of qualifying on 06-10 September will enter the third and final qualification round, which will see 10 teams involved in five two-legged play-offs.

Oshiomhole Bans Commercial Motorcycles in Benin

The Governor, who announced the ban to newsmen on Tuesday afternoon after the weekly security meeting, said the ban is limited to the three local Government areas which make up Benin City including Ikpoba Okha, Oredo and Egor Local Government Areas.
Governor Oshiomhole said it is now increasingly evident that many of the kidnappers in the state are Okada riders.
He said that the state has become a haven for criminals and other Okada riders who migrated to Edo State following similar ban in other states.
The Governor appealed to the Okada riders to bear with the government as they were compelled to make this decision.
The Governor also said that the security agencies have resolved to commence random checks of the private security personnel employed by residents in the state to determine if they are Nigerians and have valid papers to reside here as it has been discovered that they have largely been the informants in cases of kidnapping.
He advised residents of the state to properly scrutinize those they employ as helps and security personnel.

Nigeria Borrowed N1.9 Trillion in Two Years - Minister

Nigeria has negotiated various loans totalling $12 billion (N1.86 trillion) in the last two years for both private and public sectors, Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has said.

The figure includes loans from international financial institutions and other creditors such as World Bank, China Exim Bank and African Development Bank

Speaking yesterday at the Ministerial Platform, showcasing the achievements of the ministry in the last two years, Okonjo-Iweala said the financing agreements secured are meant to support the real sector of the economy.

Speaking on the public sector debt profile last week the minister said that "as at now, our external indebtedness is as low as $6.67 billion or about 3 percent of Gross Domestic Product, GDP."
She said the breakdown of the total financing agreement includes N30 billion credit risk guarantee to Nigeria's commercial banks to support the supply of fertilizers and seeds by the private sector, US$ 200 million to support the ATA for staple crop processing in the six geo-political zones and US$ 300 million support to Fadama and commercial agriculture all from the World Bank.

From China Exim Bank the ministry negotiated US$ 500 million for importing 18 cassava processing mills and 40 rice processing units (under discussions), US$ 75 million, Rural Access and Mobility project US$200 million for various roads (under construction), US$500 million for the Abuja Light Rail Project, US$500 million 5 new airport terminals in Abuja, Kano, Lagos, Enugu and Port-Harcourt, US$100 million - National Information and Communication Infrastructure Backbone (Galaxy Backbone), and US$765 million Zungeru Hydroelectric Power Project

From the Islamic Development Bank, Nigeria secured US$17.32 million for science secondary schools in Kaduna State, US$44.69 million - Upgrading of hospital facilities in Kaduna, US$136.34 million - Zaria Regional Water Supply, US$50 million Dam project for water Supply & Irrigation in Osun State and S$70 million to improve and enhance Bilingual Educational Support.

The African Development Bank has granted N50 billion (US$ 330 million) for the construction of the East-West Highway, US$81.32 million - Zaria Regional Water Supply and US$200 million Rivers State Water Supply Project.

Between 2005 and 2006 Nigeria spent $18.1 billion to service debt and secure debt relief from external donors.

The debt relief granted to the country by Paris Club and other foreign creditors facilitated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo was supervised by the Okonjo Iweala in 2005 and 2006.

Last year, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria Malam Lamido Sanusi, raised alarm over the nation's rising debt profile and warned that the development, if left unchecked, would result into hardship for Nigerians.

Sanusi, at the Honorary International Investment Council conference in London, argued that if the existing level of borrowing from big nations continued huge debt profile would place "undue burden on posterity."

On the progress made within the period, the minister said as a result of the confidence on the reforms in the country "a number of our banks have gone to raise funds abroad e.g. Access Bank ($350 million Euro Bond), GTB ($350 million Euro Bond) and Fidelity Bank ($300 million Euro Bond)"

Delta State University lecturer caught pants down with female student

Randy Lecturer1

It was learnt that the lecturer had insisted on having sex with the student without which she will continue to fail the 200 level course.

According to information made available to DailyPost, the student’s refusal to
accede to her lecturer’s amorous desire was the reason she has been failing the course since her second year.

However, last Friday, Mr Ifeanyi, who is working towards earning his Ph.D Degree from the same university, had gone to see the female student with the understanding that he will come along with her exam scripts and after sleeping with her, upgrade the scores immediately, not knowing that she had a hidden.

Sources said the female student had planned with her male friends and some neighbours to barge into her room whose door she left unlocked once she had gotten Mr Ifeanyi undressed.

Luckily for her, according to reports, her game plan was successful as the promiscuous lecturer removed his clothes almost immediately he entered her room. The lady then signaled her male friends who rushed into the room to bundle the lecturer out of the room.

Mr Ifeanyi was dragged out of the lady’s room without any piece of clothe on with the help of her neighbours and male friends.

Realising his game was up and the damaging effect it would have on his career, the lecturer pleaded and asked for forgiveness but the now angry group insisted on taking their pound of flesh as he was molested and told to pose for photographs as evidence of his misdeeds.

According to some students of the Theatre Arts department who spoke on the condition of anonymity and for fear of being victimized, they said the lecturer was in the habit of blackmailing his female students into sleeping with him just as they also accused him of constantly bragging of being untouchable because he purportedly belongs to a dreaded campus cult.

Randy Lecturer 2

The students added that any male student who fails Ifeanyi’s course, is forced to part with five thousand (N5,000) or risks carrying over the same course.

Reacting to the allegation when contacted, Mr Ifeanyi said he had nothing to say as the school authority was handling the matter.

Huawei: Embracing Big Data and the Next Wave of the Digital Society

Ken Hu, Deputy Chairman and Rotating CEO of Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider shared at the Nikkei 2013 Global ICT Summit today, that the next 20 years will see the next wave of the digital society, characterized by big data and big wisdom. Businesses must restructure their thought process and mindsets based on the Internet, and proactively carry out ICT infrastructure transformation in order to support the necessary business transformation.

In a speech titled, "The Next Wave of Digital Society", Mr. Hu shared his insights on four trends of the digital society with business leaders, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders from around the world. First, the Internet will become a fundamental element of our business mindset. Second, flexible working practices facilitated by mobility will become a basic lifestyle option, with borderless enterprises becoming an essential form of business operations. Third, through effective use of the Internet, cloud computing, and big data, mankind can leverage the wisdom of people and machines worldwide to create a new, connected and shared wisdom. Finally, as the Internet and social media continue to gain popularity, the behaviors and preferences of consumers and individuals are converging, and intelligent analytics can be harnessed for business benefits. As niche and domestic markets shrink as a result, enterprises must evolve to do business globally.

Mr. Hu said: "The Internet will become another form of infrastructure, just as electricity and roads did in the past. The Internet is no longer just a tool to improve efficiency. Networks have become the infrastructure to build future production models. More importantly, the Internet should be the starting point of our thought process. We will be able to see many new opportunities if we use such a mindset to evaluate traditional industries."

"In the Internet era, the biggest challenge facing traditional businesses is the increased competition based on the Internet," Mr. Hu added. "In order to face this challenge, traditional businesses must change their mindset and business concepts. By adjusting their mindset, companies will see fresh opportunities, instead of focusing on future challenges. With an updated mindset and new business models, companies can realize changes by embracing digital restructuring – a process of business transformation supported by strong ICT infrastructure transformation. Business transformation forms the direction and objective while ICT infrastructure transformation provides the structural foundation and support.” Mr. Hu emphasized: “ICT infrastructure transformation must be positioned as the driving force behind business innovation and growth, not only the tool for enhancing efficiency."

In conclusion, Mr. Hu pointed out the importance of networks, IT systems, and devices in achieving ICT transformation. "5G technology is expected to achieve the speed which is 100 times that of today's fastest wireless bandwidth," Mr. Hu said. "As a pioneer of global 5G standardization and research, Huawei is committed to providing broader and smarter information pipes to achieve 'zero distance' between consumers and networks, ultimately connecting possibilities in the next wave of digital society."

Huawei has established the future-facing 2012 Laboratories, which focuses on next-generation network technologies, including 5G, NG-PON and next-generation Internet, with the aim of embracing the opportunities and addressing the challenges of a digital society together with customers and partners.

30 Things Every Woman Should Have By 30

ad36c78be8eb8c2e55c8852ab6b1474d

If you are a woman close to your thirties, this is my list of 30 things you should have:

1. An education – This is the best investment you could ever make in your life. Continue learning because as long as you keep learning, you keep growing.

2. A vocation: In addition to your education, become a professional in your career or area of specialisation. Get trained and get the necessary qualifications.

3. A savings account in your own name (and enough money in it) – One of the wisest investments you can make is starting a savings account early. Apportion at least 10% of your earnings to this account and watch it grow.

4. A sense of humor, style and purpose – Humor is very attractive and will get you through some tough patches. A sense of style lets you stand out from your peers and having purpose ensures you pursue your goals with focus.

5. The wisdom to fall in love with your eyes open – Know what you want out of your love relationships and avoid being carried away with the ‘feeling’ of love.

6. The perfect suit to wear for a job interview – As you move higher in life, there’s sure to be numerous job interviews. You never get a second chance to make a first impression, so make sure your suit gives the very best first impression.

7. A set of matching luggage – You may need to go on vacation sometime.  Do it in style with your set of matching luggage.

8. A matching set of lacy bikini – Who knows? You may need to relax at the beach when you go off on that vacation or go for a swim anytime soon. Make sure your bikini is just perfect for the occasion.

9. A recipe for a meal you are almost perfect at – Even if it’s something basic, make sure you are almost perfect at preparing one complete meal.

10. A first love (and several other loves) – The magic of first love is as painful when it’s over, but the best part of it is that after you cry your eyes out, you let go and become wiser. And when you love again, you will know how to keep it. This time, longer.

11. A broken heart (and the knowledge that you can survive it) – A broken heart means that you tried…at least. Only time (and girlfriends) can heal your broken heart. You can survive it….and love again.

12. One friend that makes you laugh….and one you can always run to– What can we do without close friends? Make friends for life and be a friend yourself.

13. A childhood you are grateful for (though not perfect) – None of us chose our childhood, but we can be grateful for all it taught us (perfect or not).

14. A plan for the future you are looking forward to – Without a plan for your future, how do you know when you get there? Sit down with yourself and write where you see yourself in 3, 5, 10 years and make a plan to get there.

15. A good skin care routine – Glowing skin is the dream of every woman. But it does not just happen. Get a good skin care regimen that is best for your skin type and watch your skin glow.
16. A good hairdresser – A woman’s hair is her crowning glory. Get a hairdresser who understands your hair and can help you maintain it in the best possible way.

17. A tailor who can make drop dead outfits – The way you dress is the way you will be addressed. Get a tailor who knows what style really is.

18. A spiritual foundation and faith in God – Maintaining a relationship with God is the best foundation for life. He is your creator and redeemer, so get closer to Him each passing day.

19. A drop dead gorgeous photo of yourself - to remind you that you are beautiful.

20. A best friend – If you fall down, your best friend will pick you up. If you need a hand or a shoulder to cry on, your best friend will be there.

21. A dream - it all starts with a dream. Dream! Let your imagination run wild while you fill up a blank sheet of paper with everything you want to be, do or have. This will keep you going even in the tough times.

22. The phone number of someone who will drop everything and come when you call.

23. A perfectly fitted bra - Wearing the right sized bra is comfortable, helps your posture and aids the lymph flow inside your breasts.  Also, since your breasts will spend most of their time in a bra, should they not be comfortable?

24. A pair of jeans that fit just right - Most ladies will wear a pair of jeans at least once a week. Jeans can also be worn for informal and semi-formal events. Having one that fits just right would make you stand out from the crowd.

25. A handbag you can never get tired of - Handbags are one of those accessories a lady can’t do without. A nice, reasonably sized leather handbag will always do the trick.

26. An average proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel – No matter who you are or what you do, you need to be computer savvy. Start with basic Microsoft Word and Excel, but don’t stop there.

27. Confidence – You are a woman. You are important. Carry yourself as one.

28. Humility – Modesty and an unassuming nature are not signs of weakness. Only a very strong and confident person can be humble. Refuse to get puffed up but remain humble.

29. The guts to say No without feeling guilty – People will always need you to do things for them. Do as much as you can but never choke yourself just to please people. Sometimes you just need to say No.

30. A competitive streak: A desire to be the best and to stand out from the crowd. Make yourself more productive so that you remain relevant.

Corruption’ll Reduce If Dangote, Other Wealthy Nigerians Join Politics – Senator

A Peoples Democratic Party chieftain in Ekiti State, Senator Gbenga Aluko, has urged wealthy businessmen, including Alhaji Aliko Dangote, and Mr. Femi Otedola to join politics.
Aluko said this in Ode Ekiti on Saturday in an interview with journalists.

He recalled that prominent politicians across the globe, including former United States President, George Bush among others, were some of those, who were highly successful in business before their foray into politics.

Aluko, who is seeking to contest the 2014 gubernatorial poll in the state, said corruption would be reduced if wealthy people aspire for political positions.

Aluko said,  “Politics should not be seen as a  profession.  In America, where we copied our presidential system from, some of their great politicians like George Bush, George W. Bush,  and Al Gore made it big in business before coming into politics.

“George W. Bush was into oil and gas. What these people went for in politics is service and not the wealth  they would  amass. If people like Aliko Dangote and other big businessmen go into politics, they would not be desperate like those who see political offices  as means to corruptly enrich themselves.”

According to him, honest and wealthy people should not shy away from holding political offices, saying their presence in politics, will help the country overcome the problem of corruption in public places.

The former lawmaker also noted the party’s resolve to return to the Ekiti Government House in 2014.
